Dr. Lamar Collins

Author, School Administrator and Former Coach
6th-12th, Staff, Parent

Dr. Lamar Collins is an author, school administrator and former high school football coach who understands the correlation between choices and consequences.

Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Lamar moved to the great state of Texas after high school and enlisted in the United States Army. After serving in the military, Lamar attended Central Texas Collage, the University of Mary Hardin Baylor (BS), and Texas State University (MPA). He then began his professional career in education as a high school teacher and football coach. Lamar later joined the Worth the Wait program as an educator at Scott & White Hospital.

Now a father of four, Lamar talks to parents about the significance of promoting a healthy lifestyle within a strong family unit. He directs parents to assess their child’s behaviors, and informs them on how to look for certain factors that will prevent their child from making destructive decisions.

As a former coach and a current school administrator, Lamar is able to understand and empathize with issues that enviably arise in an educator’s career, such as burnout; lack of communication in the workplace; the day-to-day battles with student classroom behavior; etc. He also equips audiences with tools that will help them reach the at-risk students in their classrooms, and will also assist them in creating an environment for all students to excel.

``The question is not, 'Do you have what it takes to succeed?' but rather, 'What are you doing with what you have?'”
