This month, we proudly recognized over 100 students from six Dallas Fort Worth area high schools who completed the 2018-2019 Just Say YES Peer-to-Peer Mentoring program! Participating students celebrated their hard work over the last 26 weeks; investing 130+ hours in making positive live changes.
This year’s participating Dallas Fort Worth area high schools include:
- Lakeview Centennial HS (Garland ISD)
- Pinkston HS (Dallas ISD)
- Southwest HS (Fort Worth ISD)
- Uplift Heights Preparatory (Uplift Education)
- Uplift Infinity Preparatory (Uplift Education)
- Uplift Mighty Preparatory (Uplift Education)
The Mentor Graduation Ceremony was held at Lofty Spaces in Dallas, Texas on May 4, 2019. It was a beautiful and sunny Saturday afternoon where parents, loved ones, campus liaisons and friends came together to cheer on JSY student mentors and mentees. The program consisted of a heartfelt video reflecting on this year’s program, highlighting the FRIENDS FIRST STARS National Conference in Colorado Springs, CO, mentor training, the MentorLife Retreat at GroupDynamix, day-to-day memories of classroom lessons and team building activities. The audience also applauded the inspirational messages given by Founder and President Dan Bailey and JSY Motivational Youth Speaker Tory Gant.
Tory’s message focused on the concept Mentor Life, and explained that mentorship does not have to stop at the JSY Peer-to-Peer program. Mentor Life is something that can and should always be a part of their life.
“Allow yourself to be mentored, and pay it forward by mentoring others.”
